About Ranakpur

Ranakpur is one of the most famous and largest of the Jain temple complexes of India, built of marble. Ranakpur is located in the homonymous town in the southern part of Rajasthan in western India, in the district of Sadri, about 100 km away, from Udaipur, the nearest major city. In total in Ranakpur 4 Jain temples - central and 3 opposite. The central temple of Ranakpur is very large, much more seen by me in Mount Abu and other places, and with complex architecture. The main temple of Ranakpur has a size of 60 by 62 meters and is considered the largest Jain temple in India.

Getting Ranakpur

By Road

From Udaipur, there are buses , travel time is 3 hours, the price is about 80 rupees. Udaypur travel agencies offer day tours to Ranakpur with a stop at Kumbalgarh fort for 1200 1600 rupees. From Jodhpur, you can take a taxi - a minimum of 2,000 rupees, the road in a straight line takes 3.5 hours without stops. Also from Jodhpur to Udaipur through Ranakpur there are daytime luxury buses , the ticket price is 450 rupees, which stop at Ranakpur for 1 (or 2) hours for a tour of the temple.
