Festivals of Jaisalmer

In Jaisalmer, all festival having its own value and importance, but there are few festivals, in which indulgence and interest of travellers from other states and countries take place.

Desert Festival (January-February)

Jaisalmer, the city surrounded by the Thar Desert, celebrates its annual festival on the sand dunes. A  A real show on the sand, which even attracts visitors travelled a lot. Highly recommended. Be there.

Desert festival is also known for are Snack charmers, amazing puppet show, acrobats, music and dance performances by folks and traditional gymnasts and competitions like turban tying competition, longest moustaches competition etc . Teej Festival (July-August)

A festival to commemorate the arrival of the monsoons. Women dressed in bright colors and lots of joy prevails during Teej. Essentially a women's festival, it is interesting to see that it enjoys in groups and in various bazaars in which they turn up their shop, in all the best.

Dussehra Festival (October)

Dussehra means the Tenth day, being the 10th day of the brilliant half of Ashvin. This day is also known as Vijayadashmi, or the tenth victory, because of Ram's victory over Ravana.

Things to do in Jaisalmer

Visit Sunset point:  Sunset point also called the Royal cenotaphs. Here you can admire a wonderful sunset. On one side the Thar Desert, on the other side the view of the Jaisalmer Fort, surrounded by the cenotaph where the royals were cremated. After sunset you can downtown to take a walk through the streets of the market.

Visit Wall inside the Jaisalmer Fort: The fort of Jaisalmer is undoubtedly the strongest that you will like best in all of Rajasthan. The best view of wall can be seen in early morning. From the moment you enter the entrance door to the walls it seems to be catapulted into a Disney movie. The entire fort is ochre yellowish and within the walls there are still many shops, bars and restaurants that animate the narrow streets. You can go all the way along the streets of the fort, climbing up to the view point, where there are the ancient cannons , to admire Jaisalmer on the other and look at the expanse of ochre-coloured houses that stand out beneath the fort.

Visit the Jain temples:- In Jian temples, there are seven temples to be exact. All the temples are built with a ductile stone and easy to carve and for this reason you can admire ceilings, arches and columns entirely carved with countless shapes and figures, different the gods represented. To get in, you have to take off your shoes, bottles of water and leather goods are not allowed.

Visit Palace of the fort:- The building is spread over seven floors and the rooms follow one after the other until you reach the roof from where you can enjoy a splendid view of both the Thar desert and the city below.

 Visit streets Markets:- Finally, allow yourself an hour, or even two, to wander the streets of the market. Leaving the First Fort Gate, go down to the left, following the narrow streets and browse through the many small shops selling silver, handicrafts and textiles. You will then arrive at the Bhatia Market which is nothing but the market square where several ladies sell fruit and vegetables sitting on the ground and with the goods on a tablecloth.

 Visit Nathmal-ki haveli:- With Nathmal-Ki-Haveli facade full of bas-reliefs, however, a few streets beyond the Sadar Bazar , you will find the Patwa ki haveli . Here you can enter a narrow alley and admire the facade of stone haveli and finely crafted. The first wing of the haveli is open to the public and you will find the Patawa ki haveli museum, a private museum that illustrates the daily life of the wealthy lords of Jaisalmer in the nineteenth century.

Do Camel Safari in Jaisalmer:- Camel safari and overnight in a tent. The tent is really spacious and clean, with a private bathroom. The tour in the dunes waiting for the sunset is really impressive, even if the Thar Desert does not have the typical dunes that can be expected from a sandy desert. The sun that falls behind the horizon, the sand dunes ... the next dinner under a beautifully starry sky and sleeping in a tent.

Desert National Sanctuary

 

The Desert National Park is one of the major national parks in Rajasthan and is located near the city of Jaisalmer . Around an area of ​​3162 square kilometers, the national park is one of the largest national parks in the country.
