Yamunotri is a small town in Garhwala, from where the holy river Yamuna (Jamna) officially begins. Yamunotri is a pilgrimage site in which the goddess Yamuna is worshiped. Yamotri is located in the Garhwal Himalayas, 230 km. from Haridwara. Geographically, the headwaters of the tributaries of the Yamuna-Jamna, the Hanuman Ganges and the Tons, which are found in Saptarishi Kund (Basin 7 Rishis) form the Yamuna itself, geographically.
