Jyotirmath, also known as Joshimath is a city and city government in the Chamoli district in the Indian state of Uttarakhand. Located at an altitude of 6150 feet, it is the gateway to several Himalayan mountaineering expeditions, hiking trails and pilgrimage centers like Badrinath. It is home to one of the four cardinal points of the pith created by Adi Shankara.
