Kohima is the capital of the Indian state of Nagaland, one of the three cities in the state that has its own municipality. Most of the population belongs to the Naga peoples, most of them - Angami and Rengma. The city is located in eastern India, in the intermontane basin of the Assamo-Burmese Mountains, near the border with Myanmar. The height above sea level is about 1400 m.
