Aurangabad is a city in northern Masharashtra, usually used as a transit point on the way from Bombay or Nasik to Ajanta and Ellora, famous for their cave (rock) temples included in the UNESCO register. Now only the monument to Shivaji at one of the central crossroads of Aurangabad reminds of the former greatness of the past rulers of the Marathas.
