Nubra Valley was opened for tourists only in 1994. Nubra is located 150 km north of Leh over the Pass Kardung La. Along the valley flow the Nubra River flows into her Shyok. The valley is a rather deserted space with several oases of vegetation and settlements, chief among which are Diskit (administrative center), Sumur, Hunder and Panamik. Apples, apricots, sea buckthorn and barley are grown in the valley.
