Dwarka is a city and pilgrimage center in western Gujarat (Saurashtra) on the coast of the Arabian Sea. In Dwarka, Krishna is believed to have built a powerful kingdom on the site chosen for him by Garuda, the riding animal of Vishnu . He built a city that stretched over 104 kilometers. The city was well fortified and surrounded by a moat through which bridges were thrown, which were removed in the event of an enemy attack. According to legend, the gods themselves helped Krishna build this magnificent city.
